Did you go to Summer Game Fest this year? There were lots of amazing new games there, enough to blow your mind (and maybe your wallet). Even though E3 is over, Summer Game Fest still feels like that great summer tradition of pure gaming fun.
Geoff Keighley, the lord of fun discoveries, has accomplished something incredible this year. There were many statements, but these ten really stuck with me. You need to get into the game strong with powerful designs and awesome stories.
Some of these games felt so authentic that I swear I could feel the breeze blowing through my hair as I investigated a new fantasy world. Right now I feel like I’m investing resources into the characters and the game isn’t out yet.
Hold on to your hat, it’s hard to hold on until these games hit the shelves. We have that mid-year gaming festival hype to hold us over, don’t we? Which statements moved you the most?
Lego Horizon Adventures
Do you know the latest E3 statement? You should lock yourself in because this one is wild. The Skyline game of chasing robot dinosaurs in a futuristic world is still fresh in your mind. Throw those dirty energies out the window as LEGO has just taken over the establishment and transformed it into a downtown experience.
I have to admit I cringed when I saw the trailer. The boss crawler girl was made entirely of LEGO blocks. Working with a partner to take down these blocky monsters is even better. It looks like a humorous block of plastic.
Maybe this is what Skyline needed. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the scoop test, but having a good time with a friend sounds just as good. And then, LEGO dinosaurs? That alone is great on so many levels.
The hit LEGO Skyline Experiences series will conclude this Christmas on PlayStation, Switch, and PC. Prepare to remake the world, each living block in turn, with a partner and your inner identity.
Neva
Hello, do you know this game called Neva? The people behind this are the same people behind Gris, that crazy puzzle game that came out a while ago. Remember how Gris completely surprised us with his unique artisanal approach? It seems that the Neva will be of an unprecedented degree of shock.
From what I’ve seen, Neva seems to be more active than Gray. It’s actually a secondary aspect, but they put up a fight to keep things interesting. The hand-drawn images are still there and they are much more stunning this time around.
Moreover, do you know how people celebrate Doughnut National Day, here it is.
Without a doubt, I can’t wait to jump into the world that Nomada Studio is creating. It’s about investigating a perfectly designed climate that grabs my attention. Maybe it’s the feeling of the experience, or maybe just the satisfaction of overcoming difficulties in a seemingly incredible place. Either way, Neva is definitely on my radar, and I can’t help but get my hands on it in the not-too-distant future. Is it true that you are going to investigate?
Civilization VII
Have you heard the latest news? Human Progress VII will be released within a year! Anyone who loves system games like me can’t help but rejoice. We got a brief look at the new trailer, but really, who needs all the essential details when you know it’s about Civ? Like a warm, fuzzy feeling of coming home: natural, connected, and sure to take countless hours as you build your dominance toward world control (or social triumph, if you’re feeling calm).
This time, Civ breaks free from the PC’s shackles and extends his turn-based goodness all the way to the control center. More colleagues can join the habit-forming Civ train, planning their direction to success from their armchairs. I’m already imagining epic late-night gatherings, discussing military tactics and social miracles with friends, fueled by pizza and friendly rivalry.
For a Civ fan, this is hardly enough of an opportunity to jump on the promotion train and maybe dust off your Civ VI skills while you’re ready. We should just warn the world that another era of Civilization players will be released.
Blumhouse Games
Did you hear anything? The minds behind films like M3GAN are branching out into computer games. This is great news for horror fans like me who always want to be scared.
Imagine Stardew Valley, that scary testing system, but with a surprising beast chasing you! In a new statement, they promoted several attractive games. It was so popular!
Additionally, they referenced some big names associated with these companies, such as Sam Barlow, who created the psychic game Her Story. There will be some truly scary and exciting encounters if Blumhouse can bring his shocking magic to the games. I can’t wait to see what bad dreams (I mean games) they have right away!
Mashable Light Speed
Individual horror fans, please! I just found a trailer for you that will have you going to bed with the lights on (or, you know, like me, watching rehashed cat pictures, since rest is for the weak), so get ready for some chills.
The most remarkable thing about this trailer is that it guarantees some truly horrible games. They appear to be independent gems created with love and probably largely as part of a Hollywood blockbuster financial plan. You know, right? There’s more attention to the weather, surprises that come from pure imagination, and plots that will make your head spin in the best way possible.
Do you remember the scary games we loved when we were kids? This extraordinary feeling of fear was created by those who relied on the hop panic. Perhaps it was the creaking sections of flooring in a seemingly empty house, or the lights that seemed to vibrate with a hidden presence. These games were able to tap into our fundamental feelings of unease and have a lasting effect, all without requiring extravagant artwork.
These unconventional horror games seem to entrap the equivalent of witchcraft. I can’t sit back and see what kind of bad dreams they release! Maybe don’t play them right before bed…
OMG, and speaking of bad dreams, assuming you know of other horror games and improbable, unconventional treasures, etc., hit me up in the comments! I’m always looking for something new to scare me… When it’s all said and done, feel free to contact me.
Slitterhead
Individual players, block! Do you remember the quiet slope? The hideous fog, the agitated murmurs, and those famous pyramid beasts? The person who sent us into a frenzy is back with a brilliant new game called Slitterhead, and it looks pretty intense.
At SGF this year I watched the trailer for the interaction in progress and you won’t believe it, it’s a wild ride. You are an unusual, amnesiac person who knows how to jump between people in the city. Imagine slipping down a dark street and suddenly seeing the world through the eyes of a frightened old woman! I think it’s amazing.
There are also enemies. Oh man, the haters! These are strange bad dreams straight out of a Junji Ito manga. Shaped appendages, bodies twisted in unthinkable ways, not suitable for weak people.
The battle itself looks a little ugly around the edges, which might put some people off. This may increase the appeal for those who grew up on Quiet Slope bullshit (what if we were authentic? It wasn’t the smoothest interactivity).
Slitterhead will be released on November 8 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. So if you’re looking for a disgusting game that will fuck with your head and make you question your own humanity, this might be right up your alley. You may not want to play it right before bed unless you have really bad dreams that night.
Cairn
Do you know the Game Bread cooks? They’re like video game chameleons: Furi dropped us into this crazy, fast-paced adventure, and Asylum pulled us into this quiet space-age romance. They totally surprise us again with Cairn.
This time, it’s about facing a mountain. Also, prepare yourself for what I’m about to share with you: this mountain looks completely deceptive. Do you know that feeling when you are about to face a very difficult climb? The kind that makes you question every life choice that has led you to this point. This is the vibe I get in Cairn.
We don’t have to sit still for too long to even think about finding out what it’s like. Mark your schedules because Cairn is coming to the PC and Control Center in 2025. I expect it to be an exciting and rewarding encounter, just like the feeling you get when you finally reach the climax after a journey ruthless.
Wanderstop
Is Wanderstop something you’ve heard of? The Stanley Illustration and The Fledgling’s Aide were done by Davey Wreden, the guy who created these crazy, psychic societies. In fact, forget everything you thought you knew about their games because Wanderstop seems to be a complete 180!
You run a cozy little cafe in a fantasy world instead of bothering. It’s daytime and rainbows…maybe not all day, but more like making a relaxing tea and visiting with idiosyncratic characters wandering your driveway. Sounds ideal, right? Charming…
Knowing all of Wreden’s experiences, there is this nagging tendency in my subconscious that things will not be as peaceful as they seem. There must be some sort of strange curve in our path, a secret layer to this coffee business. However, hello, it’s important for the enjoyment of your games, right? You don’t know what you’re getting into, but you know it’s going to be an incredible adventure.
Wanderstop is launching on PS5 and PC soon, and I can’t wait to see what wild turn this relaxing tea-pouring experience takes. You too? Do you really find this impressive gesture from Wreden fascinating?
Alan Wake II DLC
You will find it hard to believe. Do you remember Alan Wake 2? The stunning work of art from a year ago? In fact, master the art of preparing for the unexpected. This weekend (June 8), the DLC arrives, and being epic is the order of the day.
We’re talking about three new playable characters, which is incredible in itself. One of them is Jesse Faden, the absolute leader of Control, who actually took 2019. It gives me significant melancholy mixed with pure fervor, and it feels like a hybrid occasion for our two most beloved games.
It’s like going back to those youthful summers we spent glued to the TV, watching our number one shows do those awesome group specials. The Power Officers collaborated with the high school’s Freak Ninja Turtles. For adults with more existential fear, it looks like this.
I can’t wait to dive back into this world and see what new bad dreams and wonderful personal cooperation The Cure offers us. Alan Wake and Jesse Faden could become the closest of friends, protecting each other from the darkness with a flashlight and an assist weapon. Talk about a relentless couple.
Skate
Have you seen the skateboarding report, my friend? Do you remember the wonderful skating duel that we fell in love with for a while? He’s finally coming back, all things considered.
A flash of pure sentimentality awoke in my heart when EA dropped the bombshell that they were reviving the skateboarding establishment. It was the time of epic dances, perfectly nailed problem lines, and hours spent modifying our virtual skaters.
Things have actually been very quiet the last couple of years, but fear not, fellow single skaters and friends! There’s a new trailer featuring the hilarious Tim Robinson! How can you not like this?
The trailer currently lacks real interactivity and it is clear that the game is still under construction. Anyway, hello, there is a glimmer of hope! Console playtesting will take place this fall. This means we can dust off our old reflexes and prepare for a virtual cement explosion. It’s hard to stay away.
Phantom Blade Zero
Player, welcome! Calling all fans of unique skill-based, samurai-style fighting games! Ghost Sharp Edge Zero is a must-have for you.
The game looks totally crazy after receiving another trailer on SGF. Imagine yourself as a destructive samurai fighter, taking down enemies with precision and then unleashing exaggerated full-body moves. It makes you feel like a complete boss and gets your adrenaline pumping.
I wanted more after seeing the trailer. The problem is that there is no delivery date for PS5 and PC yet, but trust me, this one is something to keep an eye on. What do you think? Could it be said that you are ready to unleash the samurai fighter within you?
How to watch the Summer Game Fest 2024
Hello single player! Do you think it’s already late spring, Game Fest time? We were going crazy over all the Elden Ring hype like it was yesterday.
This year’s event appears to have been slightly tweaked, with Geoff Keighley himself saying it’s additional reporting on the games we’re certainly familiar with. Either way, there is always a chance of unexpected surprises, right? Ultimately, who wouldn’t want to see an unexpected trailer come out of nowhere? Do you remember that moment with the “last” dream?
Either way, the promotion is real! On the way to get all the activity, here is the overview.
Friday, June 7 at 5 p.m. ET/14 p.m. PST (keep your schedule in mind!
Where: YouTube, Jerk, or even here (look at the smart video implant at the top! Seems an all-in-one resource for all things gaming, like an all-in-one resource for all things gaming games).
We’ll surely have updates on Beast Tracker Wilds (because who doesn’t love fighting Goliath beasts? Zero is the plan to unleash your inner Saiyan. There are also rumors of a trailer for the Among Us series and updates on Palworld.
Whether or not it’s a total triumph of new statements, there’s always something energizing about Summer Game Fest. It’s like getting a preview of all the exciting things to come. Sit back and get ready for a night of good gaming. If there are any surprises, we should go crazy together on the web.
