A solemn boy from a modest family in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on October 15th of year 1931. He encountered many challenges while growing up. He completed his schooling at Schwartz Higher Secondary School and pursued a BSc in physics at St Joseph’s College. Professional Life: Building a Nation

After being a part of the DRDO from 1958 to 1969, Dr. Kalam joined the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 1969. This is where he played a lead role in developing the country’s first indigenously designed and produced, satellite launch vehicle SLV-III. Pretty cool, right?

In 1982, Dr. Kalam returned to DRDO and started the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme which was termed the “Missile Man of India”. He became globally famous for leading the Indian nuclear test along with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998.

For the period 2002 to 2007, Dr. Kalam was President of India and was named “People’s President” by his near ones because he talked with a straightforward nature to everyone. He was conferred with Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian awards of India.

Death: The Final Journey

Dr. Kalam was delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong on 27 July 2015 He had a sudden cardiac arrest and passed away. And even in his last moments on Earth, he was living out the thing that drove him most—teaching young souls.
